What Kind of Impact Will You Make?

For 2025, the Tri-City Hospital Foundation is supporting the incredible work being done at Tri-City Medical Center through their essential and emergency services. Whether it’s $20 or $20,000, your support is invaluable as we change the lives of people in North County San Diego and the surrounding area.

The Tri-City Hospital Foundation and Tri-City Medical Center are grateful to celebrate the remarkable life of Dr. Neil Joebschen, a true legend in our community.

For 38 years, Dr. Joebschen was one of the first full-time Emergency Room physicians at Tri-City. After U.S. Navy service at Camp Pendleton, he partnered with Dr. John Bushong and others to pioneer full-time ER care. On September 15, 1973, his vision secured the contract that built the modern Emergency Department—from 10 beds and 700 patients per month to 47 beds and 6,000 by 2012.

He also served as the first Director of Emergency Room Physicians, Chief of Staff, and in 2006 as President and Chairman of the Tri-City Hospital Foundation.

In lieu of flowers, the Joebschen family requests donations to the Tri-City Hospital Foundation in his memory. Your gift honors his legacy and supports the compassionate care he championed for North County.

Meet Sarah Kolb

Thanks to the efforts of Sarah Kolb, a new life-saving technology is being used today at Tri-City Medical Center. The endobronchial ultrasound is able to detect, test and remove lung nodules that show signs of cancer. No longer will the patrons of North County be asked to wait and come back in six months. We can deliver exceptional care today and provide those with feedback, at times, within the same day. Sarah Kolb has single-handedly made this possible and is in the process of providing even more technological breakthroughs to our incredible medical center.
