What You Can Do

Redesigning Tri-City Medical Center’s Emergency Department for Another 60 Years of Excellence

Over the summer, The David C. Copley Foundation awarded Tri-City Hospital Foundation with a two-to-one matching gift of up to $1.2 million toward the redesign of Tri-City Medical Center’s emergency department (ED), a major resource of critical care for the North County coastal community.

This means that for every dollar donated, the David C. Copley Foundation matched it with two dollars, up to a maximum of $1.2 million!

“We are excited to partner with the David C. Copley Foundation and are honored by their trust in us and their commitment to our community hospital.”

- Jennifer Paroly, President, Tri-City Hospital Foundation

Additionally, The Conrad Prebys Foundation Board of Directors has approved a grant in the amount of $1 million for Tri-City Hospital Foundation’s Emergency Department redesign. This grant will significantly support Tri-City Medical Center’s project to completely renovate the medical center’s emergency room and improve upon its already excellent outcomes by streamlining the triage process to decrease wait times and improve the patient experience.

“The Conrad Prebys Foundation is pleased to support your impactful work, especially in this moment in history—when the need in our world has deepened tremendously,” said the Conrad Prebys Foundation’s Director of Grantmaking, Erin Decker.

Once funded, this project will completely renovate the medical center’s emergency department’s entrance, patient and family waiting area, lighting, triage area, and a major treatment area in the ED. This redesign will improve upon Tri-City Medical Center’s already excellent outcomes by streamlining the triage process to decrease wait times and improve the patient experience.

"The emergency room is very much the front door to our hospital. This thoughtful and generous gift and this emergency department redesign project reflect our ongoing commitment to providing the highest quality of care and improving the experience for our patients and their families.”

- Steve Dietlin, President & CEO, Tri-City Medical Center

Tri-City Medical Center, which celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2021, is home to acclaimed emergency room-based programs in heart attack and stroke care, having recently received five Gold and Gold Plus awards in these areas from the American Heart Association’s Get With the Guidelines program.
